JS Choreollective is an independent choreography collective founded and led by Malaysian contemporary choreographer Wong Jyh Shyong (JS). Based in Malaysia, this choreographic laboratory explores the contemporaneity of Asian choreographic bodies and objects by inviting dance, music, multi-media and video artists to work together in JS's work, which considers and navigates through multicultural and post-colonial societies in relation to the fluid locality of people and the land. Focusing on exchange with Asian dance networks and artists, JS has staged his contemporary choreographies at CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival (Singapore, 2012 and 2014), Storehouse Collection (Japan, 2015), INTERFACE (India, 2016), Asian Young Choreographers‘ Exchange (Hong Kong, 2016), The 28th Asian Monodrama Festival (Korea, 2017), Dance in Asia (Japan and Taiwan, 2018; Indonesia, 2019; Japan Online, 2020), Dance Now Asia Dance Festival (Taiwan, 2024) and Malaysian productions such as d'MOTION International Dance Festival, MyDance Festival, Kuala Lumpur International Dance Festival, Soundbridge The 6th Contemporary Music Festival, Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia, Dancing in Place, Soun(d)ance, Dancebox, to name a few.
